This Web site, a true portal into everything that Café Britt is, was and is becoming, is part of the celebration.
Over the past 20 years, we’ve had the pleasure of educating, entertaining and, of course, serving our fine coffees to the more than 500,000 people who have visited our plantation and roastery, high in the mountains of Costa Rica.
With technical expertise, humor and creativity we’ve shared our love of coffee, its history and lifecycle from seedling to harvest, roasting, packing, shipping, brewing and enjoying.
We’ve made a lot of close friends that way. And we strive to show our appreciation by providing products and service that are each day better, each day more innovative, each day more a pleasure to receive.

Café Britt was founded in 1985 as the first gourmet coffee roaster in Costa Rica. Before Café Britt, it was virtually impossible to find a memorable cup of coffee in the country. Even the most superb restaurants could not advertise a coffee that would justify ending a gourmet meal. It seemed all the truly exquisite Costa Rican coffee was being hidden away. This, of course, was not true. The simple fact was all the best coffee was being exported.
The Costa Rican Coffee Revolution.
It was here we had the opportunity to pioneer great change and introduce gourmet quality roasted coffee to Costa Rica. As exporters ourselves, we were able to see the problem and we knew we could solve it; by reserving and roasting some of this fine Costa Rican coffee. We had all the ingredients for success: access to perfect coffee from the country’s best plantations, the finest mills, the roasters, and the obsession with quality. We combined all our resources and the result was Café Britt, Costa Rica’s most remarkable coffee.
The coffee of Presidents.
Today, Café Britt is well known and recognized as Costa Rica’s #1 gourmet coffee. Ours is the coffee served to diplomats, and is most often chosen for special events throughout the country. Nearly every fine restaurant, hotel and tourist attraction is proud to serve Café Britt, which is processed from the most exquisite coffee cherries, harvested, milled, sun-dried, and roasted right here in Costa Rica.
A Roaster among the Coffee Trees.
Our roasting facilities and headquarters are located on a five-acre finca, high in the mountains of Costa Rica near the historic city of Barva. This area is known as the Central Valley region and is surrounded by the very coffee bushes that produce our coffee. We are a hard working and passionate group of coffee lovers dedicated to quality above all else.

In addition to producing coffee, Café Britt designed and created the world’s only multimedia Coffeetour combining education, theater, and technology. The Coffee Tour de Café Britt has won many awards and is one of the top rated tourist attractions in Costa Rica. Each year, over 50,000 people visit Café Britt to learn about the history and lifecycle of coffee "from our plantation to your cup!"

Café Britt South – We’re in Peru!
Café Britt has opened its first roaster and retail stores outside of Costa Rica in the South American nation of Peru. We began roasting high-mountain Peruvian coffees and manufacturing chocolates there in February 2005. We’ve also opened three coffee and souvenir stores at the brand new Jorge Chaves International Airport in Lima.
Our stores, one of which is duty free, sell all our own products as well as crafts other items that reflect this Andean nation’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
Peru’s coffee growing season complements Costa Rica’s November-through-February harvest, allowing us to provide freshly harvested coffee to our customers for more of the year. Our remarkable new Peruvian coffees and chocolates will soon be available for sale through our Web site.
The same quality, expertise and creativity that goes into every cup of Café Britt Costa Rica are also present in our new Peruvian products. We’re pretty proud of them, and we know you’ll enjoy them.
